PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY
DUKE WEST CAMPUS—Paul Taylor has been confronting social issues in America through dance for more than 50 years. Once a student at ADF, he has returned to ADF almost every summer since the festival moved to Durham in 1977. Tonight at 8 p.m. in Page Auditorium, his company premieres De Sueños alongside two other company classics. Tickets are available at www.americandancefestival.org. —Sarah Lupton

Raleigh
JASON ISBELL & THE 400 UNIT
HIDEAWAY BBQ—In April, Jason Isbell lost his spot as the third songwriter and guitarist for Southern rock's biggest light, Drive-by Truckers—a band that's delivered an authentic understanding of a too-mocked subgenre to unlikely audiences. The Truckers, in turn, lost one of the best practitioners of lyrical empathy at work today: Isbell's an ace at identifying, from penning laments for the families of Southern boys lost in war ("Dress Blues") to Southern boys trying to move past their history ("Decoration Day"). They'll all be fine. Justin Townes Earle opens at 8 p.m. for $12-$15. —Grayson Currin
