Happy New Year's from Hell
DSI Theater—Graphic horror theater rarely keeps company with Santa's reindeer, Yuletide pines and mistletoe, but Lucius Robinson's latest production is exactly that: an avant-garde smash-up of Christmas cheer and horrific fear. Robinson took his material straight from the vaults of the Grand Guignol (a genre currently spooking a new generation in the form of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, now playing in a movie theater near you) where actors and actresses die a thousand or more deaths in a lifetime. Robinson and his cast will bring this macabre French theatrical tradition to life with five one-acts designed to thrill and chill. For those faint of heart, know that there will be scenes of asphyxiation, needles piercing eyes and skin melted by acid. Open up and scream at 8 p.m. for $10-$12. —Kathy Justice
