Yo La Tengo Almost-Acoustic
The ArtsCenter—Billed as an almost-acoustic tour, Yo La Tengo's set will be a headlong dive into a 23-year-deep back catalog with their normal chutzpah for covers both obvious and obscure—recent sets have included The Velvet Underground, The Grateful Dead, Bert Jansch, Johnny Cash and, uhh, Rex Garvin. Their repartee with the audience is nearly worth the $25 cover alone. The show begins at 9 p.m. with Lambchop's Kurt Wagner opening. —Grayson Currin

Marty Stuart with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver
Meymandi Concert Hall—This Pine Cone Down Home show was originally scheduled as the meeting of two Nudie-suited Nashville stalwarts, with the venerable Porter Wagoner joining Marty Stuart. After the death of Wagoner last fall, Doyle Lawson and his band were asked to fill the bill. Lawson goes easy on the flash, but his band's ringing work offers its own rhinestone shine. The music starts at 8 p.m., and tickets range from $29-$39. —Rick Cornell
