PALEFACE
THE POUR HOUSE—As a New Yorker, former anti-folk ambassador Paleface buddied up to Beck and Daniel Johnston while recording his first album Burn and Rob in the early '90s. Now dividing his time between Carolina skies and city lights, Paleface has increased the Southern stake in his punchy, punk-salted folk, making friends with Concord's The Avett Brothers. His latest, Just About to Burn, turns Paleface's geographic disparity into a series of folk-fueled anthems, matching whistle and stomp tunes with big city blues. See him at 10 p.m. for $5. —Kathy Justice

MICHAEL KNIGHT
QUAIL RIDGE BOOKS AND MUSIC—Award-winning Michael Knight reads from The Holiday Season. The title novella is delivered by everyman Frank Posey, while the second story covers year-end blues from multiple perspectives. Knight reads at 7 p.m. Read the Indy review.Kathy Justice
