Kourvioisier record release, Thee Tom Hardy, Wreck-N-Crew, Blaze the Sky, Defacto Thezpian, Mark Steele, The Koolest

When: Sat., July 13, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

When Butta Team Crew's DJ Skaz Digga isn't busy working as Big Daddy Kane's tour DJ, he's cloistered with fellow crew-team producers Bro-Rabb and Courtney Cin his downtown Durham studios, readying a new generation of hip-hop honchos. Tireless emcee Kourvioisier is their leadoff man: Kourvioisier's most recent Cable in the Classroom EP might not be enough to help the DJ-and-producer cadre rise to prominence, but the EP's title track is outstanding enough to push bull-headed Bull City hip-hop forward. We've prayed for less, but here's a familiar, Durham-bred poet with perfectly charmed beats and passionate beat selectors as his rap compasses. Wreck-N-Crew, Thee Tom Hardy and Defacto Thezpian open.Eric Tullis
