The Vespers

When: Sun., April 7, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $10

Nashville sibling band The Vespers blend bluegrass and evocative pop, at times suggesting Mazzy Star if Hope Sandoval came down from the mountain. Callie and Phoebe Cryar supply crisp vocals and harmonies. They're backed by Bruno and Taylor Jones, who they met around a campfire four years ago. While inspired by bluegrass, their tunes range from the island-y rag swing "Not So Nice" to the Lindsey Buckingham-tinged folk rock of "Flower Flower," with its reggae rhythm providing a surprise on last year's The Fourth Wall, their very good second album. —Chris Parker
