There are times when the cult film-mongers of Cinema Overdrive find something so obscure, so mysterious, so effing strange that it seems to defy not only all laws of cinema, but of space and time itself. In this case, it's an X-rated number from 1971 (which would likely make it a PG-13 today) called The Telephone Book. It's about a girl played by Laugh-In's Sarah Kennedy, who gets turned on by an obscene phone caller and descends into an underworld of things that—well, perhaps they'd still be X-rated today. Apparently, it's a series of scenes and characters that satirize the sexual mores of the time, from the hippies to the squares, while mocking the very idea of a "dirty movie." We don't know much more than the fact that the recently deceased Jill Clayburgh has a small role, but the programmers at Cinema Overdrive assure us that this is a major "get" for the series. The show starts at 8 p.m., includes classic trailers before and after the film (plus original art prints for sale) and costs $5. You'd best leave the kids at home for this one. —Zack Smith
