In the past few years, Yuck and Cymbals Eat Guitars have revived slacker rock to entertaining—if not precisely revelatory—effect. Despite the conventionality of its similar pursuits, The Soft Pack excels, playing with a fuzzy energy that feels both relevant and reverent. The band's pogo-prompting pace recalls Superchunk's early days, while the burly mumble of singer Matt Lamkin approximates what it might be like if Doug Martsch's voice dropped a couple of octaves. Kinetic and exuberant, The Soft Pack sounds both back-dated and fresh. Heavy Hawaii opens at 8:30 p.m.; tickets are $10. —Jordan Lawrence
