For those of you who can't wait until the Carolina Theatre trots out its annual Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in August, the Colony will have a special screening of an LGBT-themed film that's been making the rounds at theaters across the country—and there's black folk in it! Called The Skinny, the movie focuses on a quintet of old African-American college buddies (four gay guys and one lesbian) who reunite in New York for a weekend of fun and, of course, revelations. Yeah, it sounds like The Big Chill for fans of the Bravo channel. But considering we're now living in, you know, no-gay-couples-allowed territory, we should be privileged that a theater around here is ballsy enough to play a movie like this. The film starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are $12, or $10 in advance. —Craig D. Lindsey
