The Sandman

If you loved the black and white expressionistic films F.W. Murnau (Nosferatu) and Robert Weine (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari), you'll be interested in The Sandman, a new silent film by New York-based writer-director David Teague. The former Chapel Hill resident and Flicker regular took his inspiration from the classic story by 19th-century German author E.T.A. Hoffman, and the film features an original musical score and intertitles. The Sandman has been well received at several international film fests and has played to full houses at its New York screenings. See it this Sunday, May 20, 8 or 10 p.m. at Go! Room 4, 100 Brewer Lane, in Carrboro. Call 423-8112 for information.
