The Other Son

When: Wed., April 10, 7-9 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

When INDY Week reviewed The Other Son last December, the film's hackneyed switched-at-birth narrative was left to stew in its own juices. The film is really about how families and societies react when it's learned that Israeli and Palestinian babies went home with the wrong families during the bombing of a Haifa hospital during the Gulf War. Shown as part of Israel Awareness Week, co-organized by Durham's Beth-El Synagogue and the Israel Center, the film will be followed by a panel discussion on identity in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Panelists include Daniel Greyber, rabbi at Beth El, Abdullah Antepli, Muslim chaplain and Islamic Studies instructor at Duke, and Yonat Shimron of the Religious News Service. —Chris Vitiello
