Starting a professional theater company is always a dicey business. But in 2005, K.D. Kennedy Jr. produced "Hot Summer Nights," the first in an annual series of shows in the summer, a season traditionally at ebb tide for regional theater. Good move, K.D. Ten years and one name change later, the company now called Theatre Raleigh hits rewind in an all-star cabaret and a celebrity fundraiser gala with food, drink and a silent auction. Sway to show tunes from Broadway stars Andrew Samonsky, Robert Lenzi, Julie Foldesi, and Janine Lamana—and expect a number or two from artistic director Lauren Kennedy and her husband, Alan Campbell. The gala ($50) is at 6:30 p.m. prior to the Saturday show.
