Molière's classic comedy of manners, or lack thereof, has maintained its popularity beyond three centuries, but it represents a strange mirror to today's world. We live in a time when noncomformist behavior is almost ... well, conformist, with everyone trying to stand out as much as possible. Would someone like the politeness-eschewing Alceste be considered such a radical today for his railing against the salon, or would he just have a video blog on YouTube? Was Molière not only ahead of his time, but ours as well? —Zack Smith
