The Mantras, Big Daddy Love

When: Wed., Nov. 28, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $8

Though this show teams two Triad bands that aren't afraid to stretch out their tunes, listeners should have vastly different expectations for each. The bold, genre-hopping adventures of Greensboro ensemble the Mantras take wild psychedelic rides, with the band adding electronica and worldly influences to a funk-rock foundation. Winston-Salem quintet Big Daddy Love takes cues from Acoustic Syndicate on twangy tunes that largely stay grounded in their roots but occasionally veer off into spacey electric banjo explorations. —Spencer Griffith
