The Joe Moss Band

When: Sat., Nov. 16, 9:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $10
Chicago blues guitarist Joe Moss spent a decade as sideman to Magic Slim, Billy Branch and Buddy Scott before his 1997 solo debut. He certainly shakes and rattles, but he's not a particularly showy guitarist, working laid-back grooves possessed of cool assurance. There's some Traffic in the jazzy strut of "Black Boots," while "You Made Me So Happy" stretches out hypnotically in the glow of a cocaine-high Clapton sunset. He brings that blend of blues-based rock and rock-based blues with his own band. —Chris Parker
