5 years ago: Mary-Russell Roberson's last piece in a series about urban sprawl in the Triangle explored what can be learned from Atlanta's mistakes. Apparently, we didn't learn too much--the Triangle was recently rated the 3rd most sprawling metro area in the country.
10 years ago: Jackie McNeil, Durham's newly sworn-in police chief, told Melinda Ruley about his plan to attack Durham's real and perceived crime problem by implementing community policing programs.
15 years ago: Barry Yeoman interviewed Pat Barry, Leon Dworsky, and Deborah Greenblatt about their experiences being Jewish in the South--being part of and separate from Southern culture.

Being the community
In Raleigh's Moore Square and around Main Street in Durham, we ignore people who we assume don't have housing. Rocky and those like him go to Love Wins or the Maurin House to find eye contact, to hear a "good morning," to be a part of their cities.
