The Green Season: Rice Field Geometry of Burma, Cambodia & Thailand

Dramatic geographic folds, topographically terraced by rice paddies, left an impression on Pamela George during her time living in Thailand. The Southeast Asian landscape glows all shades of green on the Carrack's walls this week before George hosts a closing reception for her show The Green Season: Rice Field Geometry of Burma, Cambodia and Thailand. Placid, lovely vistas are captured in oil, acrylic and cold wax. The "green season" is the annual flooding of the fields when new rice is planted and the hills shine with both natural beauty and agricultural activity. George also teaches at Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment and owns Durham's P'Gale Fine Art Studio. —Chris Vitiello
