Head Start

Agencies that received funding with restrictions can't access the money. No routine administrative support service.

Social Services

No standard and follow-up inspections of certain licensed health care facilities by federally funded inspectors.

Women, Infants and Children, known as WIC, will shut down this month, affecting 264,000 women, infants and young children.

Funding for North Carolina's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, called Work First, begins to run out.

The Child Care Development Fund is running out of money, as is Adult Protective Services and Guardianship Services.

Veterans

Call centers, hotlines and regional offices that help veterans understand their benefits are closed.

Business

New applications for small business loans and loan guarantees halted; loans to rural communities suspended.

Environment

EPA stops non-essential inspections of chemical facilities and drinking water systems.

Transportation

Permits and reviews for planned energy and transportations projects halted, preventing companies from working on these projects.
