The Claim

This BBC films production stars Wes Bentley, Milla Jovovich and Nastassja Kinski in this film set in the frontier days following California's Gold Rush. Set in the extreme landscapes of the Sierra Nevadas, the story is inspired by Thomas Hardy's bleak tale of belated justice, The Mayor of Casterbridge. Daniel Dillon (Peter Mullan), who controls the mountain mining town of Kingdom Come, is a man who reached the top through unbridled ambition and greed. But Dillon's life catches up with him when three strangers--a railroad surveyor and two women who hold secrets from his distant past--arrive in town. See "Opening Friday" for theaters.
