The Blues Brothers

When: Thu., Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $5.50

Fresh off the astounding success of National Lampoon's Animal House, director John Landis and star John Belushi reunited to bring the blues-singing siblings that Belushi and co-star/co-writer Dan Aykroyd originated on Saturday Night Live to the big screen. They ended up making the most batshit-crazy musical comedy of its time. (Keep in mind this came out in 1980, which also gave audiences Can't Stop the Music and The Apple.) Jake and Elwood Blues are on "a mission from God" to reunite their old band and do a benefit show for the orphanage the bros once called home. Along the way, they get in a bunch of property-obliterating car chases, with everyone from cops to neo-Nazis to Carrie Fisher on their tail—that is, when they're not taking part in musical numbers with James Brown, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. —Craig D.
