Tab Benoit's music is a sweltering summer breeze offering no quarter. His gritty blend of Delta and East Texas blues leaves sweat on your lip and grime on your fingers, while his soulful voice sets him shoulders above the fray. The prolific Baton Rouge, La., native has released at least a dozen studio albums since his debut nearly 20 years ago, perfecting a bog boogie that skirts rock without ever leaving the blues' confines. He's supporting a 14-track best-of album, testifying to his place among today's best relatively young blues artists. Sol Driven Train and Mel Melton & the Wicked Mojos open the 8:30 p.m. show; Melton's restaurant, Papa Mojo's, will serve its gumbo at the gig. —Chris Parker
