NUMBERS, RAHDUNES
DUKE COFFEEHOUSE—Duke Coffeehouse has a busy first semester, and some of their hybrid bills are slightly questionable, even if interesting. This first one is a dream, though: Numbers puts walloping fuzz tones and little magnetic man-woman harmonies atop Motorik rhythms and a primeval rock catharsis. And San Francisco's glorious RAHDUNES paint rich, textural drones in burnt primaries and mellow pastels, mating menace with mellifluousness in distended, iterative melodies. Rest on Labor Day. With Eberhardt and Nathan Xander. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and tickets are $7. —Grayson Currin

THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICA (ABRIDGED)
THEATRE IN THE PARK—Part Jon Stewart and part John Adams, The Complete History of America (Abridged) recaps your fifth-grade history book with a grain of salt—and a shot of vodka. No political figure or pop-culture icon goes unscathed as Adam Long, Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor's play compresses the history of the United States into about 90 minutes. The show runs through Sept. 9, and this afternoon's matinee starts at 3 p.m. Tickets are $21 for adults, with deals for seniors, students and active military. Check out www.theatreinthepark.com for more info. —Karlie Justus
