Jimmy Eat World
  • Jimmy Eat World

Raleigh
Jimmy Eat World
Disco Rodeo—With the release of Chasing This Light, it seems emo dinos Jimmy Eat World are finally cashing the chips in and devoting themselves to gusto-at-11, even while lobbing softball ballads. But forgive the heavy studio hands: The songwriting knack hasn't totally evaporated. With Viva Voce at 7 p.m. for $20-$22. —Robbie Mackey

Georgann Eubanks
Quail Ridge Books & Music—Durham literary doyenne Georgann Eubanks has just published her first book, Literary Trails of the North Carolina Mountains, which was commissioned by the North Carolina Arts Council and published by UNC Press. This guidebook features half-day and daylong walking tours designed to take you to places in our mountains where literature has happened. Literary Trails also contains writing by more than 170 authors ranging from Tar Heels Thomas Wolfe and Kathryn Stripling Byer to titans like F. Scott Fitzgerald. Eubanks appears at 3 p.m. today at Quail Ridge, McIntyre's Fine Books on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. and the Regulator Bookshop on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. —Adam Sobsey
