Love As Laughter

Chapel Hill
LOVE AS LAUGHTER
LOCAL 506—Love As Laughter hit gold with its guitar-slinging nod to classic rock and left-field art rock on the 2005 Sub Pop release Laughter's Fifth. Now signed to Isaac Brock's major-label imprint Glacial Pace, is the Brooklyn band ready for the big time? New track "All Parts of Me," due on a record next year, suggests it may be, climbing through squiggly changes and handclaps to indie-pop, wail-along perfection. With A Decent Animal and The Love Language at 9 p.m. for $8. —Kathy Justice

Raleigh
CINDERELLA
MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM—Carolina Ballet trades Cinderella's glass slippers for pointe shoes in its version of the classic fairy tale, the company's second staging of the Disney favorite since May 2006. The show begins today at 2 p.m. and is presented along with artistic director Robert Weiss' newly choreographed Peter and the Wolf, set to the all-piano version of Sergei Prokofiev's famous score.
