WILDFLOWER HIKE
OCCONEECHEE MOUNTAIN—Have you ever seen Dutchman's breeches? Well this may be your last chance of the season! These upside-down, yellow-tipped white flowers resemble the "wide-legged, traditional pantaloons worn by Dutch men." Join the Eno River Association as they lead a 2 1/2-hour tour of the wildflowers on the trails surrounding Occoneechee Mountain, an area richly entrenched in local history. The hike starts at 2 p.m. For directions and more info, including on the association's annual spring picnic Saturday, May 5, from 1-3 p.m., visit www.enoriver.org or call 620-9099. —Megan Stein

MINDY SMITH
LINCOLN THEATRE—"Don't know what for but these open doors keep slamming in on me," sang Mindy Smith on last fall's sophomore release Long Island Shores, her lavender voice revealing just enough hurt to make you believe the line. That door-slamming stuff sure isn't happening in Smith's world. The Nashville-based, Long Island-raised singer-songwriter first turned heads with a "Whoa! Who's that?" version of "Jolene" on a Dolly Parton tribute, which found her sharing space with Alison Krauss and Norah Jones. That will wedge a door open for you, and Smith continues to step through with room-owning confidence. This partially seated show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $13-$15. —Rick Cornell
