Raleigh
ARTSPLOSURE
MOORE SQUARE—Each year, North Carolina's largest open-air art festival joins together musicians and craftsman from the region to celebrate an ongoing love of creativity. This year's fest offers a plethora of activities to delight the senses: Art in the Park will feature a sand sculpture, an installation of an inverted rose garden suspended from trees, and a life-size chess board. Musical performances include Latin jazz project Los Gatos and the Creole-infused artistry of Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience. The open-air Art Market will feature the fine craftsmanship of vendors from across the state. Kidsplosure offers a face-painting station, while Exploris gets in on the festivities with Incredible India. Entry is free and the festival runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. —Kathy Justice

Durham
SWAP-O-RAMA RAMA
ARMORY—With $10 and creativity, you can revamp your wardrobe. The Swap-O-Rama Rama, now an event in 10 U. S. cities, is an alternative to buying new clothes. Participants bring in their old clothes, then everyone chooses from the piles and begins altering! There are sewing stations and helpers, as well as glue guns, embroidery and silk screening, and an iron-on station where you can transfer Internet images to your clothes. Visit www.scrapexchange.org/calendar.php or call 688-6960. —Megan Stein
