Shawn Mullins

The Pour House--Shawn Mullins has had his chart-topping time with "Lullaby," and his super(ish) group stint with the Thorns alongside Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge. He even has a Grammy nomination in his backpack. Guess he figured it was now time to record his best album yet, the New Orleans-born 9th Ward Pickin' Parlor, a restless and varied collection of songs that reveal just the right mix of road smarts and heart. Opener Clay Cook is a member of the latter-day Marshall Tucker Band and has co-written with John Mayer, a double that you won't see on too many résumés. This is one of The Pour House's much-appreciated early shows, which means the music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. --Rick Cornell

Immediate Theatre Collective

Bickett Gallery--Co-artistic director of The Architects, Katherine Ferrier started the Immediate Theatre Collective to explore her experience in improvisational dance in new contexts, employing lights, sounds, texts and sets to create a multi-disciplinary improvisational dance-theater approach. The group just landed a residency at Bickett Gallery, and it holds a benefit with workshops, silent auctions and dance and musical performances to celebrate the new relationship. The workshops run from 3-5 p.m., and admission to those and the performances that follow runs $20. Performance-only cost is $10. Current Bickett musical residents DeYarmond Edison perform at 9 p.m. --Grayson Currin
