Sarah P. Duke Gardens—Anna Halprin is a unique choreographer, utilizing dance and movement as part of therapeutic healing. In celebration of ADF's 30th anniversary in North Carolina (see complete preview on page 31), Halprin will direct a free special event on Duke campus from 4-6 p.m. that will include a cast of hundreds drawn from the Durham community in her widely acclaimed Planetary Dance (first performed in 1981). LONG LEAF OPERA UNDER THE STARS
Southern Village—Enjoy fine music and fine weather as Long Leaf Opera starts off summer with an evening outdoor performance of opera favorites in Market Square. Pack a blanket and cooler and bring the whole family to hear one of the most disciplined vocal forms as you kick back and relax in an informal setting.
