The Triangle's biggest weekly swing party begins tonight at 5 p.m. The $10 admission includes a pot luck feast, followed by swing lessons and, of course, dancing. There's a Gender Bender Dance Contest at 8:45 p.m. No dance partner necessary—a few piña coladas from the cash bar and everyone will be swinging. KING LEAR
COMMON GROUND THEATRE—Known as one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, Bare Theatre's Rogue Company, made up of high school and college students, will take on the emotionally and physically arduous King Lear. After banishing his youngest daughter for failing in a contest of words declaring her love for him, King Lear delegates the kingdom to his two selfish eldest daughters. In the meantime, Britain's ruling class becomes increasingly plagued by deception and betrayal that eventually leads to war and catastrophe. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/16426. The production closes today. —Sarah Lupton
