BRUNCH AT THE MUSEUM
NASHER CAFÉ—Owner of some of the best restaurants in Durham and Chapel Hill, including Vin Rouge and George's Garage, Giorgios Bakatsias will be extending his domain to the Nasher Café this month after former chef Amy Tornquist stepped down to open two of her own restaurants in Durham. Bakatsias will follow Tornquist's commitment to seasonal and local foods. Try out the new Sunday brunch, featuring a menu of assorted pastries, which Bakatsias is hoping to expand if all goes well. Then peruse the Street Level exhibit one last time; it's closing at the end of the month. Visit www.nasher.duke.edu/museum_cafe.php for more on the café's new management. —Sarah Lupton

Raleigh
BRIARPATCH
THEATRE IN THE PARK—From the old plantation to Pullen Park, folk writer Joel Chandler Harris' stories of Br'er Rabbit and the rest of the Br'er gang come to life in the musical production of Briarpatch. Theatre in the Park's annual presentation of the musical comedy is filled with singing and wise-cracking critters that float down the old Mississippi to the sounds of Dixieland jazz and Southern gospel. The family-friendly show starts today at 3 p.m. For more info and tickets, visit www.theatreinthepark.com. —Karlie Justus
