SCHOOLKIDS RECORDS--Raleigh's Schoolkids outpost continues to recruit bands to play its new stage. Birmingham's The Rewinds play Saturday, and Chapel Hill's perfect pop of Hotel Lights, fronted by former Ben Folds Five drummer Darren Jesse, plays today at 2 p.m. The band's self-titled debut was re-released by New Jersey's Bar-None Records earlier this year, and it deserves to be at the top of iPod playlists: Well-written, well-played and well-sung, Hotel Lights is a consoling antidote for gray days. If you miss it today, catch it tonight at 7 p.m. at The Pour House with the frightfully good Chris Mills in the one-spot. --Grayson Currin
