Renaissance Faire

N.C. STATE FAIRGROUNDS—Ever wish the Easter Bunny was a dragon instead? Or that you could joust instead of collecting eggs? A Renaissance Easter, today at the State Fairgrounds, will have knights in armor, jousting, dancers and a Dragon Egg Hunt! Adults are half price at $6 and kids are free. The event lasts from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more info, visit or call 755-8004. —Megan Stein

CAT'S CRADLE—Yes, Brooklyn's Antibalas (who dropped its "Afrobeat Orchestra" tag for their latest, Security) plays music born of Afrobeat, the jazz and traditional Nigerian hybrid developed by Fela Kuti in the late '60s. But that's not a limiting factor: Antibalas' beat comes brandished with soul, free jazz and electronic cognition. Just check "Beaten Metal," Security's brilliant first track, all triumphant horn entrances and exits and auxiliary percussion teasing at huge drums. With Rich Medina's Jump N Funk Party. Tickets are $14-$16 for the 9:15 p.m. show. —Grayson Currin

DUKE GARDENS—Come celebrate Easter at Duke Gardens with their Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome at this ecumenical service. For more info, visit or call 681-1704. —Iesha Brown
