Straight No Chaser

When: Fri., Dec. 16, 8 p.m. and Sat., Dec. 17, 2 & 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $26-$61

After 10 years of performing, an Indiana University a cappella group named Straight No Chaser had a surprise YouTube hit and was subsequently sought out and signed by Atlantic Records. That was in 2006, and today Straight No Chaser headlines respectable theaters across the world and performs in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Yet it's as much a comedy set as a traditional college vocal group, with "Angels We Have Heard on High" rewritten as "Heard this same song 20 times/ And it's only Halloween." Then there's the YouTube hit itself—a version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" that immediately turns to silliness as different members lose count and eventually wind into a Toto melody. Tickets run $26–$61, with shows at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. —Corbie Hill
