Stop the Violence Tour: The Real Laww, Lil Bob, Aden, Bellefonte, Dasan Ahanu, April Everyday

When: Sat., May 25, 10 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

Two months ago, Durham Police Chief Jose L. Lopez told the City Council that last year's overall crime rate in the Bull City registered at a 23-year low. It's getting safer around here. Remember that, just in case you're sitting on your couch one day, playing XBox, and all of a sudden a rapper-type black male rings your doorbell. It might be the friendly Durham emcee named The Real Laww, offering you a slice of pizza. Local slam-poet dignitary Dasan Ahanu and a handful of other Triangle hip-hop artists join Laww for this show in the name of anti-violence and rap unity. Good music keeps us too distracted to be bad, right? All proceeds go to the Durham Crisis Response Center. —Eric Tullis
