Here is a fun fact about going to see Stomp, the long-running percussion dance troupe appearing in Raleigh this weekend: If you attempt to imitate them in public through rhythmic tapping of objects, such as trash cans, pencils and bus seats, you will not receive applause and acclaim so much as boos and possibly a savage beating. Speaking from experience here. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Stomp and the 30th anniversary of the collaboration of its original creators. That's ... that's a lot of smacked trash can lids right there. Look, it's fun, it's creative and you can take the kids. Just don't try this at home. Friday's 7:30 p.m. opening performance is followed by shows at 5 and 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. —Zack Smith
