Speak out for Kucinich

Speak out for Kucinich

This past Sunday while I was eating lunch and reading the week's Independent, I noticed a rather small listing for a Dennis Kucinich fundraiser scheduled for Dec. 8 (Act Now, Dec. 5). I was saddened to learn I had missed the event, which had occurred the previous day. Why, oh why was this fundraiser not more heavily advertised? Kucinich is the only presidential candidate that I could vote for in good conscience, and I'm sure many Indy readers feel the same way. I'm certainly not blaming the Independent for the minimal advertisement, but Kucinich supporters need to shout from the rooftops how he is different from the other presidential candidates. We can't depend on the mainstream media to provide adequate coverage of Kucinich and his stance on the issues, so it's up to us to get the word out.

Don't blame Ron Paul

I'd like to bring some clarity to a part of the Dec. 12 article, "Masters of their own domain names," (cover story, by Mike Milian). In the section referring to Ron Paul, one comment was "You could look for the 1992 edition of the Ron Paul Political Report, which offers some disquieting opinions about African Americans and the L.A. riots—but you won't find it."

I've seen this before and there are plenty of articles on the 'net about how the opinions weren't directly connected to Ron Paul, and that it was normal for him to be out of town without having made any composition for the paper. I'd like to bring this up since your paper displayed none of that information. I understand using populist and liberal viewpoints, but using people's hurt feelings over racism against a candidate by displaying incomplete information? That's just about as unjust as the Republican campaigns everyone whines about.
