You know, when John Guare wrote his play about an upper-crust couple's strange relationship with a black con man, he probably didn't guess that it'd inspire a hugely popular Internet game about Kevin Bacon. But the original story (inspired by real-life con man David Hampton) remains hilarious and touching in its look at a pair of wealthy New Yorkers hoodwinked by a young man who claims to be Sidney Poitier's son (and is in NYC because his "father" is directing a film version of Cats). The play remains a light but relevant examination of social connection and class issues, and it was made into an Oscar-nominated film in 1993 that co-starred a young Will Smith (who was in Men in Black with Steve Rankin, who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon).
