Sidecar Social Club

When: Wed., May 1, 5:30-8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

Entry to the Sidecar Social Club has a few requirements; work ethic and a closet of stylish duds are two. But the ability and enthusiasm to play old-time jazz with newfound twists are the real keys, and musicians J. Clarence Crew Jr., Aaron Bittikofer, Edward Theolandus Butler and F.O. Finch III definitely bring that. With singer Lisa Veronica Wood in front, the band stretches its sound to fit the songs of ruthless women from Billie Holiday to Patsy Cline. They kick off Koka Booth's annual spring Hob Nob Jazz Series in the lovely, pine-lined outdoor venue. —Ashley Melzer
