Sheila Kay Adams

When: Fri., June 14, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $8-16

There are native North Carolina artists and performers, and then there are those who are as much a part of this place as the earth and the trees and the wind. Ballad singer and storyteller Sheila Kay Adams is the latter. A seventh-generation bearer of the Madison County songbook, Adams learned from her great aunt Dellie Norton, cousin Cass Wallin and others that music folklorists could tick off on their fingertips. This is a deep transmission of the psyche of the Old North State. —Chris Vitiello
