"Science of Eats"

When: Thu., Feb. 7, 6:30-9:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $15-18

So, Durham is Foodietown, U.S.A. You can't throw a cupcake downtown these days without hitting a tapas place. And ordering chicken and waffles requires a 20-minute consultation. We are nerds and we are loving it. So why not take it all the way? "Science of Eats" features edible demonstrations from local chefs, bartenders and scientists for the gastronomic over-21 set. Ranging from practical lessons in culinary physics to methods ancient cultures used to preserve foods to bizarre "spherified cocktails," the evening should be as delicious for the intellect as the palate. Tickets to the 6:30-9:30 p.m. event are $18, or $15 for museum members. —Chris Vitiello
