NIGHTLIGHT—Asheville's Ear Pwr pack a partee wallop for a duo. Megaphone with siren? Check. Big beats cranked from a mysterious suitcase like it's got a glowing secret within? Check. Lady and man acting like party promoters, bedazzled in fluorescents and rainbows? Double check. Their slab o' wax is out on Chapel Hill's vinyl-only FrequeNC imprint. Durham's on-point synth-groovers Ex-Members open. DJs Nasty Boots and Juan V roll through. Tickets are $6 for the 10 p.m. show. —Chris Toenes

THE ARTSCENTER—This benefit assists the Safe Passage charity, which cares for children whose families work at garbage dumps in Guatemala City. Expect a reception, silent auction and performance—the bill features local magician Joshua Lozoff, Latin dance band Saludos Compay, and Lisa Uyanik & the Modile City Band. The entire event runs from 7:30 p.m.-midnight; the reception and auction are free and tickets to the show are $20. Visit for info. —Ashley Roberts

RALEIGH LITTLE THEATRE—Get a jump on Halloween with genuine costumes today as RLT empties its closets from 8 a.m.-noon. Visit for details. —David Fellerath
