Carrboro
Annuals, Manchester Orchestra
Cat's Cradle—Aside from sharing a tour and a fervent blog following, Atlanta's Manchester Orchestra and our very own Annuals now call the same label home. Early last week the Be He Me-birthing seven-piece inked a deal with Sony imprint, Canvasback. Finally! Now the little Raleigh band that could gets a budget to match its ambition. With The Never at 8:30 p.m. for $10. —Robbie Mackey

Chapel Hill
Crimes of the Heart
PlayMakers Repertory Company—Playwright Beth Henley's most celebrated slice of Southern comfort and dysfunction traces the lives of the Magrath family. PlayMakers company member John Feltch directs this production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy. For more info, visit www.playmakersrep.org or call 962-PLAY. —Megan Stein

Raleigh
Carolina Crush Stomp-Off
Moore Square—They make lots of wine around here these days. Tobacco culture may be dying off, but a new one could be in the making: The Carolina Crush Stomp-Off today will feature barefooted contestants squashing grapes in a five-minute frenzy to produce the most juice. The stomping starts at 2 p.m. and is a part of the Capitol City Cheers! Wine Festival, featuring live music, wine and art exhibits. Visit www.capitolcitycheers.com for more info. —Ashley Roberts
