FILM SCHOOL
LOCAL 506—Greg Bertens thought his band had made it when Film School released its Beggars Banquet debut last year. Then the band was beaten and robbed of a van full of equipment. The band collapsed in the ensuing acrimony. The new lineup features a more muscular rhythm section with plenty of background static and drone tempered by the vocal counterpoint of bassist Lorelei Plotczyk. With Division Day and Eulogies at 10 p.m. for $8-$10. —Chris Parker

HERSTORY OF LOVE
HAYTI HERITAGE CENTER—For one night only, the Alternative Perspective Ensemble Theatre presents HerStory of Love: A Stronger Daye, in conjunction with National Domestic Violence and Awareness Month. A candlelight vigil will begin an hour before the 8 p.m. performance. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online or at the door (cash only). For info, visit www.apetheatre.org. —Ashley Roberts

THE NIGHTHAWKS
HIDEAWAY BBQ—It's not as if D.C.'s long-standing Nighthawks needed any more cool points. They've been at it for more than 30 years, with the same lineup for almost all of the latter half. But then they appeared on an episode of The Wire, taking them into cool's stratosphere. Tickets are $15, and the coolness commences at 9:30 p.m. —Rick Cornell
