Chapel Hill
AMERICAN AQUARIUM & FUTURE KINGS OF NOWHERE
NIGHTLIGHT—A different look for the Nightlight, one full of acoustic guitars and romantics: Baltimore's The Payola Reserve makes wistful, coltish rock lined by lingering Rhodes piano fills, adding a California backdrop to East Coast enthusiasm. American Aquarium swings harder into the alt.country side of such sound, while Durham's The Future Kings of Nowhere barrels down a blacktop of emotion. —Grayson Currin

SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL
CHAPEL HILL COMMUNITY CHURCHCharacters from Dr. Seuss's books journey through the Jungle of Nool, McElligot's Pond and Palm Beach. Written by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime), with music by Spamalot's Eric Idle, this show is directed by local pianist and conductor Glenn Mehrbach and choreographed by Carol Parker, a former member of Pilobolus Dance Theatre. For info, e-mail CCSeussical@pizzadreams.com or call 942-2050. —Megan Stein

Raleigh

Ticket prices (individuals at $125, table sponsorships up to $5,000) may be steep, but all proceeds support Artspace. Visit www.artspacenc.org/collectors_gala.html for more info. —Karlie Justus
