Changing Waters
The ArtsCenter—Circus of Sorts and Emerson Waldorf High School will put on a circus that includes stilt-walking, hooping, aerial dance and poi. Students will convey the themes of human struggles and passions. This event runs Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., tickets are $5-$15. For more info, visit www.emersonwaldorf.orgMadison Owen

THE BREWERY—Little Raleigh label Tragic Hero has made waves the last couple of years with its stable of emo and metalcore acts, which has already produced minor breakthrough Alesana. This practically free showcase outlines the genre's many strains: The doom-core of Deathblow, the sweet/mathy metalcore of A Kiss for Jersey, the strange Charlotte's Scapegoat and Yosemite Mudflap's Southern-fried boogie. Pay $1 at 8 p.m. on Friday or Saturday. —Chris Parker

Performance Art Night
Common Ground Theatre—Back by popular demand, Performance Art Night should see the attitude of "anything goes" running rampant as scheduled performers Russell Hames, Anthony Hughes, Havalah Backus, Jessi Haftel and Jonathan Blackwell take the stage, with a pre-show performance at 7:15 p.m. by Leah Mlyn. The 8 p.m. show is free. For more info, visit —Madison Owen
