BAND TOGETHER BENEFIT: SON VOLT
LINCOLN THEATRE—Jay Farrar's reunited Son Volt—steadfast, saddle-worn survivors with a shiny Brad Rice veneer—joins Band Together to benefit the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. Kennebec and Balsa Gliders open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $17.50. Hank Sinatra and Wrinkle Neck Mules play a free late show inside at 11 p.m. —Grayson Currin

YOUTH NOISE NETWORK BENEFIT
BULL CITY HEADQUARTERS—Like measuring a good teacher's worth, calculating the value of Youth Noise Network is impossible. In its fourth year at Duke's Center for Documentary Studies, the WXDU-based program encourages youth to voice their opinions in audio and visual documentaries. It's the state's only bilingual, youth-produced radio show (Sundays, 2 p.m.) A $5-$10 donation includes a fish fry, Language Arts' lyrical finesse and several teen musicians on the mic from 4-10 p.m. —Chris Toenes

38TH BIMBÉ FESTIVAL
DURHAM ATHLETIC PARK—Bring your entire family out to celebrate the 38th Annual Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival, hosted by the Durham Parks and Recreation Department. The fun starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. Enjoy music, dance, arts and food, all geared to celebrate African-American traditions. The event is free. For more info, visit www.durhamnc.gov/departments/parks/bimbe_Index.cfm. —Iesha Brown
