RALEIGH

PERFORMANCE AND FILM

N.C. MUSEUM OF ART--The alban elved dance company hits a high point in the category of N.C. performing artists. These powerful dancers work together to combine spiritual emphasis with physical motion-- relying on the strength of their bodies to interpret the soul's desires. Stick around after the show for the hilarious escapades of Britain's two best-loved animated characters in Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Dance performance starts at 7 p.m. with flick following at 9 p.m. Adults $3; free for kids under 5. --Kathy Justice

DURHAM

420 METAL SLAM

305 SOUTH--Prepare thyself to be knighted in the brotherhood of metal. Seriously, prepare, like drink fluids and watch your amino acids. This starts in the afternoon and runs through several covens of bands--12 head-bangers for little bucks. Without giving too much away, there will be several variants of grind worship, including Black Ritual, the cannily named Dixie Deathwish, Blood Libel and many others. Suit up properly. Goat-throwing starts at 2 p.m. and costs $10. The fun is all ages. --Chris Toenes
