Sam Robinson & the Groove Elaters with Kofi Burbridge

When: Wed., Feb. 29, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $7

Expressive Winston-Salem guitarist Sam Robinson has a natural tag for his mix of roadhouse blues and rock-club funk: his last name. Though he's not kin to the twin pillars of the genre's Black Crowes, Chris and Rich Robinson, he does twist and squeal his six strings within the same realm, putting the big rhythms of his Groove Elaters beneath the tangential demands of his playing. Tonight he comes with another marketing draw in Kofi Burbridge, the multi-instrumentalist best known for his time in the Derek Trucks Band. —Grayson Currin
