Ronald K Brown/Evidence

When: Sat., March 2, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $35-59

A longtime favorite at the American Dance Festival, choreographer Ronald K. Brown has explored the spirituality expressed in the music and dances of the African diaspora. He's incorporated African, Caribbean and hip-hop influences into works both pensive and celebratory. His appearance at the Across the Threshold conference this week coincides with a concert by his company, Evidence, tonight. The program includes Order My Steps, a work about a community divided that takes its inspiration from Psalm 119, the music of Bob Marley and composer Terry Riley's Salome Dances for Peace. The evening closes with On Earth Together, a meditation on the Yoruban deities Ogun and Oshun set to a musical suite by Stevie Wonder presented in 2011 at ADF. —Byron Woods
