Orange County Board of Adjustment - 3
Party Barn (aka Barn of Chapel Hill) - 0
I guess I should feel kinda sorry for the 17 brides who are scrambling to find a new venue, but anyone who in good conscious drove past all the protest signs and still decided it was a good idea to do business with these modern day carpetbaggers, got exactly what they deserved! In reality, it is in their best interest, unless driving through hordes of protesters on their special day is something they wanted.....
UPDATE: The Orange County Board of Adjustment reversed the building permits and issued a stay on any further construction.
I was quoted in this article, but the writer did not include my plans to organize a boycott of The Barn as well as any vendors that chooses to conduct business there, IF they end up actually opening. Since these folks have been unfazed by the community's unified message that this commercial event center (disguised as a "farm") is not in harmony with our neighborhood and would be creating many unwanted problems for us, then perhaps a kick to their pocketbook will be the wakeup call they need. We are fortunate to live in Orange County, which is traditionally a bastion of intelligent and morally conscious people that I am certain will champion our cause. I can't imagine any bride wanting to have to explain to her guest as to why they had to drive past protesters in order to attend the wedding.
I have started a Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/5495239352… ) which is pretty much dormant (for now) and also claimed http://boycottbarn.com if the need arises.
Congratulations, Mr. Lawrence. You are the first music editor to say anything negative about Crystal Bright and the Silver Hands! How many unsigned artists around here have 10,000 hits for a music video on youtube and have been featured on programs on the BBC?
Perhaps Night Ranger will regroup and come around so you will have something to get excited about!
Until then, keep up the good work.
